Breeding Services

RCC has a dedicated breeding facility for rat, mouse and hamster. Our team of veterinarians and scientist has extensive experience. The facility is registered with CPCSEA (Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals) approval vide no. 1010/PO/RcBiBt/S/06/CPCSEA. The facility was accredited by Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International (AAALAC) since June 2016 for experimentation and breeding with barrier and isolator facility.

RCC has managed simple to complex projects on time and within budget. RCC also has established isolator facility for breeding and maintenance of the nucleus colony of mouse strains. Rat, mouse and hamster are also bred in open type cages in the barrier facility. Breeding practices are followed as per international standards/guidelines and we perform health monitoring at different frequency by following in-house sentinel program. In addition, in-bred animals are screened for genotypic confirmation annually. A list of the pathogens included in our routine microbiologic screening and our current health monitoring reports are available upon request.

RCC has generated historical control data for the last 10 years for both rat and mice covering different age groups focusing on clinical signs, body weight, feed consumption, clinical pathology (hematology, biochemistry, urinalysis and bone marrow), organ weight, gross pathology and histopathology. These parameters are considered third level control data to draw meaningful conclusion on the experimental output.

RCC also will take up CUSTOM BREEDING SERVICES upon request.

RCC maintains the following strains
